giftstoryWhat if every time you purchase your favorite lip gloss, you also donate a children’s book to a child living in a hospital?  Wouldn’t that be great?  Well… You can!

On September 1st, you can participate in “The Gift of a Story”!  My Lipstick Story by Shawna Elizabeth, is proud to present the Lip Glaze, Fairy Godmother!  Fairy Godmother is the trailblazing Lip Glaze to launch The Gift of a Story.  When you purchase this Lip Glaze, you also purchase a children’s book for a child living in a hospital. It’s a look good and feel good type of product!  For the next year (September 2017- September 2018) all books will be donated to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.  The Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital services Westchester County, Hudson Valley, Metropolitan NYC and Fairfield County, CT. Their treatments include, but are not limited to trauma, burn care, heart transplants and neurosurgery. The children at this hospital all have individual stories but I would love your help in blessing them with a BRAND NEW story.

make-up, makeup book, museum

I finally feel close enough to one of my dreams to share it, (……drumroll).  For over a year and a half I have been working on a make-up artistry book, Rouge Opera.  Rouge Opera is a book that highlights make-up art as a museum style artform.  The book will take you through a tour of a Make-up Museum, Rouge Opera.  You will find models framed and used as a canvas for make-up art.  You will also find tips and tricks in a Beauty Archives section.  Rouge Opera will also focus on  the art of storytelling, and how it is the key ingredient in all make-up applications.  Rouge Opera could not be possible without the Principal Photographer of Inije Photography & Films, Charlton Inije.  This photgrapher played a huge role in this project because you will tour Rouge Opera through, his eyes, his lens.  Rouge Opera will display the marriage of two major arts, Make-up & Photography Art.

The goal of Rouge Opera is simple…just to inspire!  Inspire the hidden artist in all of us…and hopefully unlock the part of you where all your creative thoughts, dreams and aspirations are stored.  I am still dreaming……..Rouge Opera will be launched in FALL 2013!

Book Review

Title- Fine Beauty

Author- Sam Fine

In A Nutshell: This book is great! It starts out with a section named”Make-up 101”, which focused on make-up artistry tools and how to tips.  Fine offers tips in individual segments from foundation, eyebrows, eyeshadows, blush, lipstick, mascara, etc.  My favorite segments are on eyebrows (lightening the brows and the huge difference) and the Contouring and Highlighting segment.  Fine has amazing make overs, where each make over is focused on a different theme.  He shows before and after’s in categories such as Natural beauty, corporate chic, timeless glamour, and my favorite Maximum glamour.  In the maximum Glamour make-over he uses Rupaul and shows his before and after. Fine also has a Stargazing segment. This section is dedicated to celebrity makeovers and Fine’s personal experience working with them. He has had the honor of working on celebrities such as Tyra Banks, Patti LaBelle, Vanessa Williams, and Naomi Campbell, just to name a few. One of my favorite parts of this book is the last section “Fine friends”.  In this section, Fine give each of his hi profile friends a personal profile, that tells us abut their current position, how they got started, their first big break and their advice to others.  Fine’s friends are Lloyd Boston, Art Director, Angelo Elerbee, Publicist, Jerri Baccus Glover, Marketing Director, Bethan Hardison, Talent manager,  and Mikki Taylor, Beauty Editor, just to name a few.
