As I sit here anxiously waiting to open my place, I have so many thoughts racing through my head. I got an email, a couple of nights ago, from the owner of my new studio stating the construction will not be complete until the end of January. At first I was disappointed, wondering if this is a sign, a bad sign. Then I had to immediately stop in my tracks and remember to totally trust God’s plan and especially his timing. So I attached a quote that not only was my reminder but I hope this also will inspire someone. I have come this far and cannot allow this minor setback to sabotage my excitement. So I decided to use this time wisely. I am currently in the midst of designing a brochure, that presents a menu of services I will offer at the Shawna Elizabeth Make-up Studio. Here’s what I came up with so far:

In January 2016 I will start walking in faith and living my dream. For many years I have been dreaming about opening my very own Make-up Studio. I would close my eyes and visualize this stunning place. Of course, the décor is beautiful but what made this place stunning is the atmosphere that lived in this space and the love and passion that lined the walls. This place is a Make-up Spa, a Sanctuary, a safe haven where women are welcomed to gather together or independently to learn and experience make-up artistry and skincare tips, tricks and
techniques. In this calm and peaceful place clients are invited to roam barefoot, inhale flavored candles and experience aromatherapy to awaken and relax the senses. This is a place of positivity, prayers and promise of exceptional customer service.
In January 2016, I will open the Shawna Elizabeth Make-up Studio! At this very moment the make-up studio is under construction and will be awaiting my dream in less than 30 days. I will keep you posted and get ready for a flood of posts detailing the progress. For now, all you need to know is Dream HUGE because “Dreams really do come true”! #shawnelizabeth #makeupstudio #brows #lashes #makeup #everythingglamorous

Ladies, if it’s a must to wear concealer under your eyes, to conceal darkness, or to brighten , then an eye cream or eye serum, or both, to prep the eye is a MUST! Because of the purpose of concealers (to cover), some are naturally heavier in coverage and have more opaque pigment. Some full coverage concealers are even drier in texture. So if your eye area is not moisturized before you apply your favorite full coverage concealer, you might end up with pronounced fine lines and texture under your eyes. To reduce the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and texture under the eyes, I recommend you apply a serum and eye cream before you apply your concealer, especially for the ladies that love a full coverage concealer. The goal is to hydrate and treat the eye area before you conceal. A luminous and well hydrated eye area gives the appearance of a healthy and younger eye. Who doesn’t want to look young? Get an eye serum and eye cream….please!

Last week I had the pleasure of being the Key Make-up Artist for a Victorian photo shoot. I was so excited I could hardly sleep the night before. The photographer that requested me for the photo shoot was an old friend, Photographer, Monica Marrow. Monica didn’t start out as a friend, I met her years ago in Atlanta, GA, and she was the first photographer that took professional pictures for my make-up portfolio. Fast forward about 10 years now, we are doing a Victorian photo shoot, in Westchester NY where we now both live (what a coincidence?). All models were hand picked by Monica, all wardrobe created and designed by Monica, the setting of the photo shoot an Asian Garden. I arrived at the shoot ready to do Make-up and I had an adrenaline rush, when I saw the wardrobe. It was a collection of stunning, one of a kind pieces. I couldn’t believe that this photographer, Monica, was not only a talented photographer, but a fashion designer and director with a keen eye. I was in awe all day and felt privileged to work with such a Jill of all trades. Below I have posted some snapshots of the day. I will update when I get the official photos from Monica. Hopefully theses snapshots will inspire your creative juices to flow. “We have the power to create” SEE, #lovethylipstick #lovemylife #makeismyart #monicmarrow

I had an amazing evening with my fellow RAW artists in NYC! Two years ago I won Make-up Artist of the year for the city of Atlanta, GA. Now I am back home, in NYC, and it was a true pleasure participating in a showcase, in my hometown. I was amazed at all the brilliant minds under one roof; photographers, visual and performing artists, fashion designers, and of course, make-up artists. Because I love food, it was like a beautiful buffet with all your favorite foods. The room was overflowing with inspiration. Every artist showcased their hard work and passion, and I applaud RAW for creating this outlet for the artist community.
One of the best parts of the evening was to look around and spot my supporters. These are the people who purchased tickets on my behalf and truly believe in my Make-up Art Dreams! I would like to sincerely thank my supporters; Kevin Miller, Nicole Hicks, Mark Wellington, Tameka Hunt, Peddy and Sophia Ligonde, Kecia Harris, Monica Morrow, Arnalda Magloire and Robert Litchmore. Thank you guys so much, huge hugs and kisses!!

I love a great story and the new Nail Lacquer line, from Smith & Cult has a great story! Beautiful colors, beautiful packaging- but a dented top, which represents life experiences. This nail lacquer collection is a must have, a collectors item, super addictive, once you purchase one you’ll want to purchase another. Oh and the best part, each nail lacquer is named after a diary entry, so it’s personal, raw, and I love it! Did I say that this product is healthy also? “The 5-Free formula (formulated without Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene and Camphor), provides the customer with a nontoxic, colorful, long-lasting nail lacquer experience.”
